Artifact: Change Agent Reflection Paper (Main Focus Points)

  • Discovery #1: Ideal Self

  • Discovery #2: My Real Self, Strengths & Gaps

  • Discovery #3&4: Learning Agenda & Follow Through

  • Discovery #5: Resonant Relationships

This course taught me about the human centric approach of organizational development. It gave me a new approach on seeing and changing an organizational structure as a change agent. It taught me what Organizational Development is and how to chart my course for change as a leader with recognizing patterns, gaps, and relationships to help develop my own learning agenda strategy. This class not only focused on how I can be a better change agent in my own self, but also with others and within my organization as a whole.

It exemplified the importance of connection to create shared vision to reach a goal or combat conflict. In Thriving Through Change, Biech stated,  "A vision is much more than just words on a piece of paper; a vision gives people a higher state to aspire to. Employees work better together when they share a vision. So reaching a shared vision, a common vision, is more important than creating it." As a leader I want to create an environment where people can have aspirations and feel empowered. This class was extremely beneficial to me for implementing change as a leader and also to help me reflect back to who I am as a leader and how I am or am not contributing to change. It showed me my projection of my innersole and how I communicate with others sets the tone for an organization or team. How the team reacts and feels is a reflection of myself- it is important for me as a leader to reflect vulnerability, team work, compassion, support and empowerment in others.
