Artifact: EQ Assessmnt

  • At the end of this course we took a EQ Assessment that capture how I act, and react emotionally in a relationship. This was tested in a series of simulations.  It gave me great insight into what type of communicator I am as well as my strengths and weaknesses.

ORGL 523: Psychology of Leadership

Psychology of leadership evoked deep reflection into my inner thinking and external actions and how that affects my relationships and communication with others on a personal level. This course focused on the importance of the verbal ques as well as non-verbal ques when interacting with others as a leader. It also showed the importance of empathy and seeing a situation from another person’s perspective by seeing from three different vantage points: learn from among, learn from between, and learn from within.

When interacting with others I've learned how important it is to listen to what they are saying and take it all in. When responding it is important to not make it about something relating to myself but really acknowledging what the other is saying. This in-depth listening strengthens communication and trust. Part of seeing from the three vantage points is listening but also putting yourself in the other persons shoes to fully understand where they are coming from and how they are feeling. From our EQ assessment I learned that I have high empathy- this is a strength as I am able to feel what others are feeling which helps me understand and communicate better as a leader.
